I had to apply for a visa to get to the States and buy a plane ticket to Chicago. I got the visa without any problems (I got a letter of recommendation from SEO, which helped me to obtain the visa). And basically it was all what I have done before my exchage

 - Arrival and reception -
Write something about getting there , about meeting the local students and finding the working place and the place where you stayed.
When I got to Chicago, my friends from Iowa City were already there to pick me up from the airport. I stayed with them during my traineeship. My first rotation were at the dr Prisinzano's lab and I met there a great american students. I still keep in touch with one girl.

 - The place -
What was your accommodation like?
I stayed with my friends in students' apartment in Iowa City. I had my own room. I couldn't imagine best place to stay in. People were fantastic and we had a great time together.

 - The work -
Explain in detail what you did? What was the work like?
At dr Prisinzano's lab I extracted salvinorin A from Salviae Divinorum leaves and then I synthesized an analgesics. At Division of Iowa Drug Information Service and Network I was watching how it provided drug information systems and services throughout the world to improve human health care. Its basic functions and activities were publishing, drug information service and instruction. And in Medical Plaza Pharmacy I was also watching how pharmacy was practised in the States. I was lucky to work with the best pharmacist I ever met - Bernie Cremers. He taught me a lot.

 - What did you learn? -
What did you learn?
At the Division of Medicinal and Natural Products Chemistry I learned a little bit about the chemistry and biology of drug discovery. Their outstanding faculty made the MNPC a friendly and unique learning and research experience. At IDIN's I learned about an educational and service program designed to support the drug information role of the pharmacist in providing pharmaceutical care. And in Medical Plaza Pharmacy I also learned a lot about pharmaceutical care, since in Poland unfortunately it's still not well - developed.

 - Other visits or activities -
What else did you do during your stay? Which places did you visit?
Was it organised by the SEP committee or did you do it on your own?
Did you have to pay for these to the SEP committee? How much? Where there some other unexpected costs?

I went with my friends to California!!! It was the greatest trip in my life. I have never seen so beautiful places in my life. Before we got to California, we visited Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Nevada... So it was really a fantastic road - trip!! Rocky Mountains, Great Canion, Hoover Dam, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and San Fransisco were absolutely awesome!!

 - Recommendations/final conclusion -
Do you have any recommendations for other students? What is your final conclusion?
I recommend such an exchange to every pharmacy student! I am really happy I could experience pharmacy somewhere else.
