I heard about the exchange program from my friend.

comments: We could ask everything we wanted, we had meeting with people who took a part in this program last year.

comments: Yes, we got enough information about Exchange program from our SEO and also from host SEO.

comments: People from my flat organized together excursion near the city and we had a great time there.

I shared a flat with five other students.

comments: I had wonderful company there and great organization in the flat.

comments: Price for accommodation was ok, we paid just half of full price.

comments: Professor was very interested to explain me everything about that experiment.

comments: It was very interesting because I learned something now and different than in my country.

comments: I sow first part of experiment, but unfortunately I didn’t have enough time to finish my experiment.

comments: The work was corresponded to the information because I was in contact with professor and he gave me answer on all my questions.

comments: I had problems because Spanish people don’t speak English very well. In my laboratory just two students and professor speak English.

 - Preparation -
How did you prepare for your traineeship?
Did you arrange a travel and/or malpractice insurance before your exchange?

I worked at Faculty-Department of Microbiology and I was reading about some bacteria but I didn’t know a lot about experiment. When I arrived professor gave me plan of experiment and I prepared every following day at my flat.

 - Arrival and reception -
Write something about getting there , about meeting the local students and finding the working place and the place where you stayed.
When I arrived with my friend at the airport Contact person picked us up and drove us to our flat. Tomorrow she showed us city center and how to get there and also she took me to faculty and introduced me to professor. It was very easy to find faculty or flat where I stayed and I didn’t have any problem.

 - The place -
What was your accommodation like?
I stayed in a flat with five other students and I shared room with my friend from Serbia. We were like big family. It was pleasure for me to meet that people and bee with them for thirty days. We shared kitchen, bathroom and two living rooms but we organized every day and we had great time together.

 - The work -
Explain in detail what you did? What was the work like?
I worked at the Faculty of Pharmacy-Department of Microbiology and Parasitology with professor Miguel Regue who developed this experiment in USA. I worked method for extracting DNA from bacteria (how was isolated by myself).

 - What did you learn? -
What did you learn?
During my stage I have learned some basic techniques for the construction of metagenome gene libraries from soil bacteria. I have carried on experiments of physical direct soil particles and contaminants by Nycodenz gradient centrifugation. Finally, I learned how to perform DNA agarose gel electrophoresis and applied this technique to quantify the amount of DNA obtained from the mixed population of soil bacteria.

What else did you do during your stay? Which places did you visit?
Was it organised by the SEP committee or did you do it on your own?
Did you have to pay for these to the SEP committee? How much? Where there some other unexpected costs?

I visited with my friends places near Barcelona. We didn’t have enough time to see capital city. Every excursion we organized on our own. i didn’t have unexpected costs during my stay in Barcelona.

 - Recommendations/final conclusion -
Do you have any recommendations for other students? What is your final conclusion?
I would like to recommend this Student Exchange Program because this is a great opportunity for meeting new people, making friendships, knowing new countries, their cultures and traditions. You can upgrade your knowledge and gain new experience in the field of pharmaceutical practice.
