Total number of places per year? (approximately) : In the past we have had 1-5 placements in May to September. We are working very hard this year to find more placements for students in community, industry, hospital & university settings. This year we hope to increase the number of placements a lot! Currently we have 6 community placements and 2 research placements available.
Area possibilities?
- Community/ hospital/ industry/ research in a university/ other?
- Can you describe the work in more detail? :
We mostly have community placements now, but we have 2 placements in Vancouver for research and we\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'re working on recruiting hospital and industry host sites across the country. In general, the student would be working from 4-6 hours a day for 4 days a week. The 3 day weekend will allow the student to travel
Length of training periods? (usually 1-3 months) : Training periods are usually one month, but can be longer upon request.
Available months and cities ?
- Specify whether or not full month is required
- Comments? :
SEP mainly occurs from May-Sept, with most in July-Sept We will do our best to place students in capital cities in each province: British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Newfoundland, New Bruswick, Nova Scotia and PEI
The type of accommodation?
- Student residence/ family/ hostel/ other?
- Paid by: the student/ the host association/ employer/ others? If paid by the student how much is it approximately :
The type & cost of accommodation depends on province & the host site. Usually it will be paid for by the student, but the employers are encouraged to provide money. Housing can be up to $800/month(500 EU) but we are looking for more affordable options

- Board paid by: the student/ the host association/ employer/ others?
- Pocket money provided (Yes / No)?
- Other po :
Students will not be paid a salary, but the employer may chose to provide pocket money and/or accomodations. This is not guarenteed though, and will vary between host sites.
Social events? Possible presence of other exchange student at the same time in the same city (students of pharmacy or other fields)? : We plan to have multiple students in the same city at the same time this summer and to arrange weekly social events for them. We have already discussed with other local organizations who host international students to have our events together.
Language requirements : Strong English skills are necessary. Since Canada is a multicultural country, other spoken languages are a benefit and will help you in the selection process.
